Hearing a Squeaky Chirp/Rattle Upon Cold Start?

Preventative Maintenance, Tips & Advice — By on February 14, 2012 6:30 am

If you are experiencing these noises upon start up it is possible that you may have a wearing belt tensioner or pulley in the belt drive system.

This squeak is most apparent when there is load in the engine (i.e. Noise may disappear with change of throttle load, as the belt tensioner will try to tighten with throttle pressure).

Belt replacement, or belt dressing may only solve the issue temporarily. Book an appointment today if this is something you’re experiencing to keep repair costs to a minimum.
